Big Bad Barry
Before we get started on this weeks catch report I would like to apologies on behalf of Gigantica on the lack of catch reports recently, due to unforeseen circumstances we have been running the site on a reduced number of staff. Thanks
Well I will start off with the spawning activity, we are starting to see signs of fish starting to have a go. Last week we saw plenty of revved up males on the chase in Billy’s and this week we saw them in the rushes by Bachiliars. I don't believe they have fully gone yet but the temperatures have been down and I think once we get a bit more warm weather they will soon kick into full action. But saying that, they don't all go at once. I definitely wouldn’t let it put a downer on the trip.
So this week we had 12 anglers on and 10 out of the 12 anglers manage to catch with a total of 57 fish caught from across the pond. Big Bad Barry Budd was top rod for the week in Billys and all his fish surprisingly came to one rod and that was at 9 wraps tight down the right hand margin. A total of 14 fish was caught and he even had the final night off. Feeding a mixture of hemp maize and boilie.
Next we Jut in Birches, Jut managed a total of 8 fish and with this normally being a more late summer/autumn swim he done really well. Nothing massive but still 8 fish from a tricky spring swim is a great result. 21 wraps just to the left hand on side of Billys is where he got all is bites from.
Carl Ryder in T1 managed a total of 9 fish, it took carl a little while to get them going but in the end he worked out they were coming in short so he fished 9 wraps towards the dot island which put you dead centre of the channel between each side of the lake. This is where he managed to catch all 9 fish from including Little Top Lobe at 47lb 12oz.
Jack Budd over in Turtles Corner managed 6 fish and landing one of the A Team twice in the same week (2 Scale) at 53lb 4oz. Jack had fish from two spots in the swim, one spot with two rods at 21 wraps towards the dot island and the 2nd being 23 wraps towards the blue bag along the treeline.
Clive Ryder in Dunkirk started the week off strong landing a total of 5 fish in the first few days. He almost managed to break his PB with Boilie Head at 52lb 12oz but was just 4oz’s shy. Clive caught all his fish from 14 wraps to the over hanging tree on Billys margin.
Jason Hewitt who started in Decoy decide to make a move to the bund after seeing a couple of shows and he managed two fish in the first evening one being 36lb and the other being Cheggers at 47lb 12oz. Jason was fishing no more that 6 wraps out but eventually came back to 3 wraps just a bottom of the shelf.
Marcus Leek played musical chairs all week, but for good reason. Marcus started off in Bachiliars but with only landing a small common he decided to move to cage after seeing fish show down that end of the lake. But after no success in cage he then decided to move to T1, this is where he managed his success. After dinner on the final evening he managed one straight away, a mid 30 mirror, then that same night he managed missing link to finish the week off at 49lb. 21 wraps just to the right of turtles is where he managed both his fish from.
That’s all for this week guys.
