Week Commencing: Sat 04/10/2025
Champagne Supernova
First up this week we have Jez, who after coming 9th in the draw, chose to go in Double Boards. After taking in what was shown to him on the walk around, Jez Investigated the swim himself and settled on the 15-wrap spot towards Bacheliers with two rods towards the hump, and 10.5 to the left of Poo with his third. Going in with house particle and Krill boilie, Jez put out spinners over the top with matching popups and was off to a flyer managing to land ‘Kenny’s Common’ at 44lb 4oz on the first night coming off his right-hand spot. It was then Monday morning when Jez had ‘Ron’s’ at 62lb 4oz and ‘The Jewel’ at 54lb 4oz in the sling, again both coming off the 15-wrap spot. Jez was topping the swim up after each bite with a few spombs and getting a good hit out before dinner, ready for when the fish moved down come the evening. This was working well for Jez and although Double Boards had not been a favourite in recent weeks, he went on to land ‘Castro’ at 46lb and ‘The Minion’ at 30lb 8oz in the next couple of days. After such a good start to the week he then decided to move out of the swim to spend the last couple of days closer to his friend and have a social to end the week.
Next up we are in Tea Party 1 where we had Jordan Littler who drew the magic ball number one. After originally thinking he was choosing Tea Party 2 on the map after the draw, he then realised he’d got it wrong but just got on with it and ended up also having a great week. After a long Saturday, Jordan put singles out the first night and was up early watching the water. Deciding to go 19 wraps towards Turtles Corner and have a spot at 15 towards the church spire, Jordan was fishing a mixture of house hemp, house pellet and boilie with 3 combi rigs over the top with dumbbells coated in GLM and tipped with yellow slow sinking maize. Jordan was another one who landed a biggun on the Sunday night where he had ‘2 Scale’ at 56lb 8oz and a new PB, coming off the church spire spot he’d been baiting but was only fishing at night. Jordan was made up and after a quick chat with the man himself at dinner, DF, he followed orders and broke it again the next night when he managed to land ‘The Box Mirror’ at 60lb earning another bucket and the Road Lake a new 60lber. With bites to be had in the day time in the Tea Parties Jordan was putting a couple of spombs over his spot first light and throughout the day, encouraging competition and aggressive feeding, which did the job on several occasions, helping him land fish such as the ‘Pansexual Common’ at 36lb 4oz and ‘Hurcules’ at 36lb. Jordan ended his week on a total of 14 fish and got himself on the wall with ‘The Box Mirror’.
Next door in The Poo we had Žan Jančar who came out mid-way in the draw and liked the sound of a greater chance of a bigger fish rather than a hit, going in The Goo. Baiting up with mixed house particle and boilie Žan fished solid bags over the top with isotonic hook baits and was off the mark Monday night when he had a lovely common by the name ‘Bully’ at 37lb coming from his spot at 10.5 wraps out in front of him at the red roofs. This spot then produced his final fish of the week and also the second new Road Lake 60lber of the week when he had ‘Lovin’ Life’ at 60lb and was totally blown away when he was greeted by Mr Fairbrass who came over to congratulate him on his new PB and assist in getting some great photos, one of which he got printed and signed to take home.
In Tea Party 2 this week we had regular visitor James Morgan-Boulton, who after a successful previous trip was hoping to hit the ground running with another one. With the fish showing just off the shelf on the far margin, James went in with a 25 spombs of a mix consisting of Mainline Cell in crumb and whole with house mix and smart liquid going towards the fork trees at 20 wraps fishing 3 spinners with various hook match the hatch at yellow tipped hook baits. James was also off the mark Sunday night when he managed one of the rare ones known as ‘Darky’ at 48lb 8oz with a 25lb common. Sticking to what he was doing, managed to have a couple more fish throughout the week of smaller size until the last morning where he managed to catch a lovely big common known as ‘Krak Off’ at 49lb another one that he managed to name himself now known as ‘El Gordito’ at 17lb. See you in January James.
Down the other end of the lake we had Steve who got himself in Dunkerque a swim that had been on form this year to producing a fair few bigger fish and after a few tough nights did just that when Steve managed to land himself a new PB in the shape of ‘Missing Lin’' at 52lb coming off a spot he had been baiting with boilie and house particle and pellet at 13.5 wraps to the dot island. Steve was fishing yellow tipped match the hatch boilies on all 3 rods and managed to land his second and final fish being a 24lb common.
Next door in The Beach we had Nick started off fishing the spot that had been doing bites recently towards Decoy but after hearing a couple show at last light on Monday, cast a solid bag towards them and was soon into his first fish of the trip ‘Sammy’ at 49lb. Unfortunately, that was it for Nick but wasn’t down to lack of effort the fish just didn’t seem to turn up.
Back across to Turtles Corner where we had Rick, who got a good draw and got his first choice. Due to the bad weather Rick started fishing short out of the swim for the first couple of days fishing solid bags then once it calmed down moved out to 21 wraps towards the dot island and put a good hit of bait out using mixed house particle and Mainline ISOFish boilie. After moving out longer Rick soon started to pick up the fish landing 3 on Wednesday having ‘Gert Carp’ at 28lb 8oz, ‘Gilder Special’ at 26lb 8oz, and another 34lb mirror. Rick then went on to land another 2 later in the week a 28lb 8oz mirror and ‘The Millennial’ on the final morning at 36lb.
Last up this week we have Jon, who came out midway in the draw and opted to go in Shingles. Following on from previous results, Jon decided to fish the 19-wrap spot towards the dot island and 16 to the big tree to the right of Tea Party 1. Going in with house hemp pellet and Mainline Cell, Jon fished a variety of hook baits throughout the week and it wasn’t until Tuesday afternoon just before dinner he managed his only bite of the week when he had ‘Kaena’ at 31lb. Hopefully your next trip brings you a bit more luck Jon, see you in February.
Tight Lines,
Greg,
Team Gigantica.
