Week Commencing: Sat 20/09/2025
Drenched Dreams!
After a record week previously on the road lake how would the next set of angler’s fair this week, a drastic weather change with plenty of rain due!
First off, we will start with Kye Wootten with his first trip to The Big G coming out 4th in the draw and slotted himself right into Tea Party 2 after the previous week picking up 88 carp! Starting the week off fishing 21 wraps the same as the previous week was the plan, however with plenty of rain the fish decided to push out to the tree line. The tactic changed to 24 wraps to the scary tree, this made a massive difference! The bait tactic would be feeding plenty of 15mm Iso Fish and corn, with spinners for the rig choice fishing as a snow man style with match the hatch boilie and mainline yellow pop ups. The first bite came just after dinner time on Sunday, What a way to start! a PB graced the net with ‘Huckleberry’ 40lb. Well done mate, however this wasn’t the first PB of the week for kye! Plenty more rain into Monday saw it a very slow day across the pond. Into Tuesday with pretty much a double take it was a mid-double along with ‘Lunas Rose’ 28lb and a stunner of a carp. Now into Wednesday without doubt the best day for kye. With myself telling kye to continue with regular baiting through the periods of rain and the pack turning up on him when rain stopped. This worked wonders, let’s start off with ‘Riley’ 45lb with another PB ‘P J’s’ 32lb 12oz along with ‘Mr Chow’ 31lb. Kye had a few discussions throughout the week with how he would love to catch Ron’s. Well, well well, what was next? ‘Ron’s’ 62lb. Another PB and one of the A team for Kye, Well done mate and Congratulation’s. Welcome to the 60s club! This was the lot for Kye ending up on 17 fish for the week and breaking his PB not once but three times! Fantastic week for yourself! See you next year hopefully to go one better?
Next door in Tea party 1 we have Alan Campbell also on his first trip to Gigantica coming out 1st in the draw. The plan for the week would be 3 rod’s out at 21 wraps just right of Turtles Corner, Feeding Iso fish 15mm and sticky krill 15mm boilies, with plenty of corn and a couple of handfuls of house pellet. A multi combi was the rig for the week, with the hook bait being a 16mm Krill wafter balanced with a yellow corn topper. With Constant rain all week it was tough going however Alan made the best of a tough situation. Waking up at first light every morning and bait with bites Coming not long after. Alan ended up on 11 bites for the week, Starting off with ‘Brain tuck’ 24lb along with ‘Cooky’ 31lb. Sticking to the game plan of baiting at first light payed off. Early Wednesday morning it was into some of the larger residents of the road lake with 2 quick bites, starting off with ‘Rio’ 39lb then breaking his PB with ‘Diamond Geezer’ 60lb cracking effort that mate! Not forgetting to mention it was a new Road Lake 60! Plenty more rain throughout Wednesday and It was a quiet day after this for Alan. Into Thursday and it was repeat the process up early baiting and it payed off once again! ‘Vouvray’ 48lb surely that will go 50 this year?! Along with ‘Eye-Q’ 56lb 8oz. Well done on your PB and cracking the code on the morning bites when they just wouldn’t get down in the rain!
Over the other side of the pond, we have Garry Boxer coming out 2nd in the draw. Selecting Turtles Corner after its recent success with plenty of carp showing out on the margin on the walk around. Garry’s Bait tactic was simple but very effective, 24mm fishmeal boilie, with the mind set of only the Big Girls in the pond and breaking his PB. Spinner rigs with a size 2 wide gape along with a match the hatch hook bait were the plan for the week. With most of the fish sitting under the tree’s over of the margin, Garry opted to fish at 23 wraps towards the second blue bag up the margin and a great decision this was with 90 per cent of his bites coming from the spot this week. Getting into the action on Sunday with a few 20s, the pick of the bunch ‘Cucumber’20lb. A stunning dark common. Into Monday and it was the margin spot away again with ‘Joanna’ 31lb 12oz along with a few smaller residents of the pond. Tuesday was a change of tactic upping the size of the hook bait to a 24mm match the hatch. Making pretty much an immediate response landing ‘The Stalker’ 48lb and a 36lb Common which did the off on the mat! With plenty of rain lashing down on the road lake the fish were content on sitting on the far margin. Big Fish Thursday! with the the two Tea Party’s catching big girls. Would it be Garry’s turn to break that PB? Never in doubt! With ‘ The Jewel’ 55lb 12oz in the net! Along with a new PB for Garry with all smiles around. Well in mate and Congratulations on the New PB. Baiting from the margin with just boilie worked wonders this week. Well done on sticking it out with plenty of rain and staying active rather than sat in the bivvy. 24 Bites for the week from Turtles showing it can produce good numbers in poor conditions.
Next Door we have Dean ‘Pablo’ Wootten. Coming out 2ndin the draw. Being the group organiser dean decided to allow the other guys to go into the swims that have been producing and coming slightly off the main pack of carp. Selecting The Shingles for the swim for the week. The rig for the session would be a spinner rig fished as a blow back style with a hair, his hook bait choice would be a fishmeal 15mm boilie with half a yellow 15mm pop up fishing snowman style. The bait for the week would be a 15mm fishmeal boilie with cell 15mm boilie, plenty of sweat corn and a sweetcorn smart liquid. With dean spending quiet a lot of his time in tea party 2 with his son kye breaking his Pb 3 times. Dean pretty much rested the swim throughout the day. Landing 5 for the week and the biggest being ‘Covid’ 33lb. That was it for dean. Pleasure meeting you mate and in sure we will see you back at the Big G in the near future!
That’s it for the week this time around. 58 Bites for the week. Plenty of rain, 3 Pb’s to go home with. Korda Social next up with a certain record breaker back on the pond. Watch out for next week’s catch report
Tight Lines,
Tom
