TIME FOR A MOVE
With majority of the bites coming from The Bund and The decoy in recent weeks, would the carp move of would they stay in the same area. Read on too see how the new set on anglers got on this week on the Road lake.
Let’s start off with road lake regular, Liam Flynn coming out 6h in the draw, Liam set himself up in Tea Party 2 after seeing plenty of carp showing on the walk round. Continuing with what has been working, Solid bags with 1 grain of yellow slow sinking Mazie. The baiting approach would be Cell 15mm, House Mazie, pellet and hemp. Starting the week of at the 26.5 spot towards the scary tree Liam nicked a few early bites, after losing a few too snags on the spot, he dropped back to 20 wraps at the scary tree, and what a difference this made! With plenty of fish showing in the swim, it was 15 Spombs to start the morning off and topping up after every bite. It seemed as soon as that dinner bell got rang, he was in! With plenty of 20s and 30s being caught let’s skip straight to the big ones. Getting into his first 50 of the week in ‘After Work’ 52lb 8oz. With the shots in the water complete and the rigs reset it was to no surprise that liam was in once again, with ‘Eye-Q’ 54lb 10oz. What a start back-to-back 50s! class! After this it was a case of sticking to the tactic with Tuesday and Wednesday gone by with the same approach it was more 20s and 30s with one being ‘Hazy Maisie’ 30lbs. with plenty of bait going out and keeping the pack of fish there it was becoming a real red-letter session for himself. Into Thursday and it kicked off from ther off. More early morning spombing and a fresh up of the rigs he was at it again with ‘Hung like a wasp’ 29lbs. The bait was key, holding the carp there and keeping the work rate was vital, With a mention of his Pb throughout the week after regular chats with liam, He had a chunk! Was it his time to break that 20-year PB? Nearly! 5oz short. With ‘The Nose’ 56lb 4oz’. Cracking effort mate! He also backed that up with ‘ Rio’ 39lb 4oz. Getting into Friday it was more of the same plenty of bait and making the rigs were on the spot! Not long after he was away with ‘Kulture Klub’ 46lb 4oz. What a cracking week for yourself Liam, Landing 36 carps and 3 50s for yourself! Nice to see someone who regularly comes having such a great session! Well done mate and I am sure we will see you back soon!
Next door we have Richard Grayling, Coming out 4th in the draw, rich decided to set up in Tea party 1 with again seeing a lot of shows on the walk round. The Spots for the week would be 2 rods at 15 wraps towards the church spire and 1 rod out longer at 21 wraps at Turtles Corner. Solid bags with one yellow slow sinking Mazie would be the hook bait choice, with an insert of banoffee goo. Starting off a slow bait approach after the long 11 hour journey was the bait approach for Saturday with 15mm fish meal boilie with the throwing stick. It was into dark when rich got his first bite with a 35lb Common, nice start! With the carp there in numbers rich decided to start going in with more bait, fishmeal boilie 15mm and corn would be the baiting tactic, around 10 spombs on each rod was doing him the bites for the week. Early Hours Sunday morning was the next bite with a 44lb mirror doing his own night shots, after deploying more bait, rich got into another chunk, after seeing it top on the surface only a couple of wraps out, the unthinkable happened! Hook pull absolutely gutted! How ever! With the calm character rich is it was refreshing of the rigs and 10 more spombs. Not long after dinner the middle rod was away on the 15 wrap spot, and this defiantly made up for the earlier hook pull! ‘The Reincarnated’59lb. Class mate! After a quiet evening it was Repeat the process more bait and fresh of the solid bags. A mid 20 commin came from the 21 wrap spot in the afternoon, then it was dinner time again. With the day before throwing up a chunk after dinner time would it happen again? oh it sure did! ‘ The Jewel’ 53lb 14oz! epic! Into Tuesday night it was another self take for rich with a 42lb mirror. It wasn’t until just before dinner this time the next bite. Another 50! Making it 3 50s for the week already! ‘Cyril’ 50lb. The stamp of fish coming out was insane and just shows why people love coming to Gigantica. With more 20s and 30s through the evenings it was into Friday with the next big bite, 45lb 8oz. How ever after seeing it slightly stressed, we decided not to do shots and slipped it straight back knowing it was safer. This was a cracking week for yourself rich. Amazing week and great socials. See you back in November, to go one better?
Over the other side of the pond, we have Alfie Heath on his first trip to Gigantica. The Swim choice for the week would be Turtles Corner again seeing plenty of shows on the walk round and stacking up along the margin and in open water. The tactic for Alfie would be fishing towards the 21wrap spot to the dot island and 23 wraps to the tree line spot. The rigs for the week would be spinner rigs and the hook bait choice, mainline spicy crab wafters topped with a yellow slow sinking maize. His baiting approach was 15mm cell, house maize, pellet and hemp. The first bite came after a few days with plenty of carps showing, and what a way to get off the mark with a PB. ‘Big Bob’ 50lb. What a great common, congratulations mate! Backing that up with a couple of 20s and 30s through the night the bites were finally coming with regular baiting trying to draw the fish across from the Tea party’s water was the plan with so many fish being caught in the area. Friday morning Alfie was into another 50! With ‘Boilie Head’ 50lb. Matching his PB, the scales just wouldn’t creep that bit more for a new PB, But all the less, Two 50s in the week! Top skills mate! Ending up on 7 for the week and a new PB to go home with. Well done mate, was a pleasure having you and hopefully we will see you back in the future!
At the other end of the lake, we have Ross Chamberlain on his second trip to Gigantica road lake. Let’s see if he could get into any of the big girls this time round. With recent weeks gone by The Beach has been throwing up some of the large residents on the road, and that’s exactly where ross decided to set up for the week. Solid Bags were the choice with one slow sinking maize as the hook bait were ross’s choice. Throwing stick 15mm cell and 15mm iso over the 14-wrap spot at the life boy, with Spombing particle. It was a slow week in The beach, however ross did manage to get into two big girls. Starting with a phone call at midnight on Wednesday, with ‘The Reincarnated’ 58lb with a new PB to go home with and a dirty bucket due on the Friday! Early morning on Friday ross was away again with the same approach with ‘Bomb Head’ 48lb 8oz. This was all for the week for ross, but a new PB to go home with he was over the moon.
That’s it for this week on the pond, but it’s safe to say the carp have most defiantly moved out from the Bund. Well done on all PB’s lads cracking week with some great banter
Tight lines,
Tom
