Week Commencing: Sat 09/08/2025

           Wheres the Rod?

This week the fish had started in turtles corner and began to move across the lake towards Bund.

Lets start in Beach where Jak had managed to land a total of 3 40lb pluses. His biggest was a wonderful common named Old Town Road weighing 44lb. Jak had caught this from 15 wraps to the life boi where he had managed to land yet another 40lb plus named Gelato weighing 40lb 8oz. He was fishing on a spinner rig using a boom like hook link with a size 4 spinner hook topped off with a washed out pink fish based pop-up.

Next up is Phil Brown in Tea Party 2 where he had also fished the week before. Phil fished the exact same way as before using solid bags. Phil’s biggest of the week was a fish known as Lester’s weighing 46lb. Phil stuck with the same spots as last week fishing 21-23 wraps to his far margin. His spod mix contained maize and ground boillie with his PVA parcel in the middle which contained a Slip-D Rig with 2 pieces of yellow slow sinking maize. Phil also managed to land 2 36lb carp called Joe’s Common and Mr Miyagi.

Over in Shingles was Michael Blake who had managed to catch the biggest fish of the week. A known common and a new PB for Michael called All About The Hat weighing 61lb 8oz. He also managed to land a 40lb plus from the same spot. 18 wraps to the dot island. Although catching a new PB he managed to escape his soaking by leaving early.

Fishing in The Decoy was Nick Warburton who had managed to land Broken Tail weighing 49lb. He had caught this fish from 18 wraps down his right margin by hand baiting his spot. He had also managed to land a few of our smaller residents in the night.

Turtles Corner had managed to land a total of 2 50lb plus early in the week. Starting with The Jewel weighing 54lb 8oz and then also The Long Common weighing 50lb 8oz. Both of these fish were caught from 21 wraps to the island where he was spombing pellet, maize and boillie in his spod mix.

Tea Party 1 had also managed to land a few 40lb pluses through the week with the biggest weighing 47lb. All his fish were caught from 21 wraps towards Turtles Corner. Mid week the angler fishing here decided to leave his rod on the floor to sink his line after casting out as doing so he turned around to head towards his bivvy however as he turns back to finish sorting out his rod it had gone. The rod has now been retrieved and the fish had already got free. After loosing a three spirit rod and a Shimano mag, im sure he has learnt his lesson to not leave the rod on the floor unattended.

I myself was fishing in Dunkerque this week as no one wanted to go in there due to The Cage having a swim rebuild. I had managed to catch a few 20lb pluses but on Thursday night I managed to land Ava weighing 42lb 8oz. I caught all my fish from 15 wraps towards the island where I was fishing solid bags with a single grain of yellow slow sinking maize in the middle. The fish had definitely moved from Turtles Corner as they were showing a lot more in this area. Every night I put out 10 spombs of maize and boillie mix. I did this because I hadn’t fished in daylight hours and even when I caught I didn’t bother on topping my spot up so every night was like a reset.
