                       Change in the weather

This week was a very difficult one at the beginning for most over at Road lake, however a good head of fish still saw the bank.

To kickstart this report let’s begin with Barry Horsnell in Dunkerque. Barry had a great start to his session with 5 fish in the first night, three of them being from The Cage’s margin and the others at 15 wraps to the island in front of him. However, 4 of his fish were fairly small but at first light he had called saying he has a nice fish in the net. Barry had landed “Cooky” weighing 39lb 11oz which he had caught on a D-Rig with a cream based wafter. As loose feed he was using Maize, House Pellet and cream based boillies. Barry had also landed 2 more unrecorded fish. One weighing 17lb 4oz, which he named “Midge” and another weighing 27lb, which he named “Roobz” both named after his children’s nicknames. On Monday night, Barry had caught a Gigantica monster, which was also his PB, named “Hanson” weighing 70lb. He had caught this from The Cage’s margin which surprised us all. Barrys approach which caught Hanson was using a P.V.A bag with a single grain of orange maize and a size 4 Krank hook. He then walked down to where he was fishing and baited up by hand using a big spread of maize, house pellet and boillie.

Moving onto Zac Lendore who had started off in Billy’s. Whilst fishing Billy’s Zac had landed a few of the smaller residents of Road Lake. After a few days Zac had seen that a majority of the carp had moved into The Bund which had convinced him to follow them. Within just 30 mins of moving Zac had landed a stunning common named “Long Common” weighing 51lb 10oz, Zac’s move had paid off ! Due to him having to leave early he was happy that he had the chance to hold one of Gigantica’s big commons. All he was using was solid bags as he wanted to be quiet and only make one splash to not scare the fish.

Only a swim away we had Ady Walsh fishing in Decoy. At the beginning of the week Ady had landed a fish that was only caught the week before, yet another stunning resident here at Gigantica called “Korda Social Common” weighing 49lb 14oz. Ady had caught it on a spinner rig with a size 4 Krank hook he was using a 15mm IB Dumbell in yellow fishing over maize, hemp and house pellet. He had caught it down his right margin at 16 and half wraps. Through the rest of the week Ady had landed three of our smaller residents in the night all from his right margin.

Over in Tea Party 1 was Nick Bath. Nick had managed to pinch a bite, within 30 mins of having his rods out, from 21 wraps towards Turtles Corner. However, after that he had struggled to get the fish feeding in-front of him mainly due to the weather being so inconsistent. Once the weather had started to clear back to sunshine towards the end of the week, Nicks second fish was named “Boilie Head” weighing 49lb 8oz. This was Nicks chance to keep the fish in his area which he managed to do, as after that he landed 3 more unto 31lb. All of Nicks fish came from 21 wraps to Turtles Corner where he fished over maize, house pellet, Cell boillie and ISO Fish boillie. Nick was using a spinner rig with double fake maize and a Boom like hook link with a size 4 Spinner Hook.

Across the water was Robert Burr in Shingles  who had managed to catch fish throughout the week and caught all his fish at 18 wraps to the island. Robert managed to land around 6 fish, 2 of which were in the day and one of these two was his biggest fish, which weighed in at 44lb 8oz and is a stunning fish named “Ringo”. Ringo was caught on a Slip-D Rig in a P.V.A bag using the snowman method. Robert had used two fish based boillies on this snowman method with one being match the hatch brown topped with a washed out pink. Not long after landing “Ringo”, Roberts other rod was away with a lovely fish named “Autumn” weighing in at 33lb 6oz. Robert was using the exact same method on both rods with them both fishing fairly tight to each other. The other fish he had caught were all in the night and smaller than “Autumn” which he did self takes of.

Down the margin we have Turtles Corner where Carl Freshwater was fishing. Carl had struggled at the beginning of the week due to the weather however, towards the end of the week carl had started picking the carp off. Carl managed to land a small resident of Gigantica weighing 17lb. As this fish had no recorded captures he managed to name it and Carl had decided to name this fish after his best friend who is currently going through a tough time naming the fish “Bazza”. Carl had also managed to land one of our bigger residents called “Huckleberry” with weighed 40lb 2oz. He had caught both these fish from 9 wraps towards Tea Party 1 and was fishing with D-Rigs using double yellow maize as hookbait. As loose feed carl was fishing with Cell Boillie, Link Boillie, Maize and House Pellet.
