Get Your Sticks Out

First up today we have long term friends Phil Turpin and Lee Cambell who were together in Turtles Corner. Fishing 23 wraps towards the dot island with their right rod and stepping them in towards the bank they were using match the hatch bottom baits of either Cell or Essential Cell topped with a slow sinking maize. Phil and Lee were getting steady bites throughout the week and couldn’t seem to keep the bait going in quick enough some days, regularly getting bites straight after putting some bait out and getting several double takes. They chose to use a combination of a throwing stick and catapult and fished spinners over the top and both managed to break their PB’s more than once through the week, with Lee nearly getting away with his Friday soaking. Lee ended the week with a good hit of 30’s along with a couple of 40s ‘Not All About The Hat’ at 43lb 4oz ‘Le Flair’ at 49lb 4oz and topped the week with his final PB with ‘Eye-Q’ at 55lb 10oz and even got to name a couple too. Phil on the other hand managed several 30’s himself and also topped the week with his PB at 40lb with a fish known as ‘Tres Belle’ but managed a few pretty ones along the way such as ‘The BP’ at 34lb 8oz and named one himself ‘The Poacher’ we hope to see you guys again.

Paul Nash is up next who started his week The Bund but after a couple of quiet days and a quick wonder round the lake decided to make the move down in to Bacheliers and what a great move this turned out to be as he was soon into his first few fish that evening landing 3 20s one being the amazing looking scalie at 25lb 1oz fishing with straight 15mm Cell out the bag doubling it up on the hair, Paul had several fish throughout the week biggest being ‘The Dutch’ at 34lb 4oz but was finally rewarded with a bigger resident known as ‘A-Star’ at 54lb a fish that doesn’t come out very often so well done Paul.

Next up in Tea Party 1 we have Jack who struggled throughout the week with the fish seeming to be visiting his spot but the two pickups he had the hook pulled but Jack kept at it and come Friday his efforts were rewarded when he had two fish one known as ‘Chip’ at 32lb 8oz and the other a 57lb common, known as the ‘Korda Social Common’ Jack was fishing 20.5 wraps towards Turtles and chopped and changed with solid bags and spinners fishing over a bed of boilie in chop and whole along with house particle. Glad you kept at it Jack well done!

Across the pond in Double Boards we had Tim Coffin who was also seeing and hearing a lot of fish and just kept to his spots, fishing solid bags over a small spread of boilie, and had one mad morning in the week on Monday just after breakfast where he had a 100lb brace in the shape of ‘Jack’ at 48lb 12oz and ‘Nailed’ at 53lb 8oz a cracking morning, one were you say your week’s made but would always love more but unfortunately that was it for Tim this week but he was happy and we look forward to your next trip.

Over in Tea Party 2 we had Jason who was originally fishing in Birches but moved into Tea Party 2 for the last few nights and jumped straight in to fishing the far margin at 25 wraps spreading a mixture of Cell and K2 up the margin with a throwing stick and fished German rigs over the top with match the hatch wafters on. Was a good move in the end as he managed to end the week on 8 fish with ‘Jamill’ at 35lb 12oz and ‘Ruby Murry’ at 48lb being the biggest.

Down in Brambles this week we had Andy who is a regular visitor to us here at Gigantica and was off to a flier the first night managing to land himself a 50 on the first night and also a new PB with ‘Afterwork’ at 52lb 12 oz fishing 21 wraps towards “The Bonsai” and fished a spinner with a yellow topped boilie on the hair over a bed of house particle and corn with Cell boilie. Unfortunately, that was it for Andy this week, until next time Andy!

So, the fish still seem to be getting on the straight boilie approach with Mainline’s Cell seeming to do really well at the moment and good to see some of the big ones continue to come out.

Tight lines,

Greg.
