Week Commencing: Sat 22/03/2025
23 on 1
First up we have Daniel Wozniak who came out third in the draw and chose to go in Decoy. This turned out to be a great choice as he was soon into his first fish on the first night where he managed 2 during the night and was bent into one when I arrived to drop him his breakfast roll. His first being one known as ‘Boyle’ at 42lb followed up by an unnamed mirror at 32lb and the ever angry ‘Korda Social Common’ who never behaves when caught, and now Daniel’s new PB at 58lb 8oz, what a start. Fishing 18 wraps down towards the bund, Dan was fishing spinners using long shank beaked accompanied with a shot on the hook, tipped with double slow sinking maize or yellow pop ups, then feeding Essential Cell-soaked flaked maize, corn and matching boilie. This tactic continued to work as Dan was soon into his next fish the following night where he had a small unnamed common at 23lb 8oz and the character that is ‘Bite Mark’ at 38lb. The action continued for Dan in Decoy where he had another biggun known as ‘Big Bob’ at 54lb 8oz on Tuesday morning, another cracking common, but slowed up for a couple of days as the fish seemed to move off him until Friday when he landed his last fish of the trip and one he decided to name himself ‘Tadeus’ at 26lb 12oz.
Ball number four was pulled by Will this week and he chose to go into Tea Party 2 and started his week fishing one at 21 wraps to the left of the dot island and two further up the tree line at 26 wraps. Baiting up with a pellet and corn mix soaked in Calunus liquid, Cloudy Manilla mix and a touch of hemp oil, Will put out a variety of hook baits and after having success on the Wonderberry soaked pinks, stuck with them which caught him all his fish. Will’s first fish came Tuesday landing a 26lb mirror called ‘Gert Carp’ followed up by ‘Half Moon’ on Thursday at 17lb then topping it off on the last morning with one he got to name himself ‘Jook’ at 32lb.
Over in Turtle’s Corner we had Marc Albers who drew the magic ball number one. Marc’s week didn’t get off to the best start after losing one on the first night, but he soon put that right following up the next night with his first fish of the trip an unnamed common at 27lb 4oz which now goes by the name ‘Sunny Tuesday’ as we were all hoping for brighter days. Marc started the week fishing 23 wraps towards the dot island but after seeing the fish tighter up the margin decided to move to fishing up the tree line. Going in with a corn-based mix with Essential Cell Marc put spinners over the top with slow sinking maize or yellow pop-up hook baits. Wednesday night was Marc’s second fish where he had ‘Nelly’ at 29lb and then managed to land one on his final night catching an unnamed mirror at 27lb 2oz.
Unfortunately, that’s it for this week a slow week but still we got one PB and that was across both lakes so unfortunately for Dan it was 23 buckets on Friday.
Roll on next week.
Tight Lines,
