Don’t Drop it!!!

A change to very wet conditions meant that it might always be a little tricky this week, and it proved to be so in reality, however a few anglers had opportunities come their way and managed to make the most of them.

Bob Evans fished in the Poo, a swim that may not always throw up large numbers of fish but is often known for doing biggens, and it really lived up to this. Bob managed to land 1 fish this trip but what a fish it was, Bobs approach to the swim was to go in with a mix of House Maize and Boilies and with Spinners being the rig of choice, using Iso Fish wafters as his hookbaits he managed to trip up one of the Road Lakes largest residents, this came in the shape of Two Tone which tipped the scales at a whopping 65lb 5oz, a new PB for Bob. Bob was baiting up at around 14.5 wraps aiming towards Shingles and this is what done him the magic bite, this happened to be the only piece of action for Bob this week on an otherwise tricky session but walking away with a new PB of 60+ he was over the moon with how it turned out.

Next up we have Rob Mould who put himself in The Beach for the week, Rob managed 11 fish in total by fishing roughly 23 wraps across towards the bund, his baiting approach was mainly Maize mixed with a few boilies and some liquids, using Spinner rigs with yellow wafters as the hookbaits to match the colour of his loose feed. Rob’s fish he landed mainly consisted of 20’s and a few thirties but the real stand out fish for his week were 2 50’s, After Work which came out at 53lb and also Maggie which just tipped over the 50lb mark, so a brace of 50’s being a mirror and a common and both PB’s for him meant his first trip to France was a major success.

Then we have Tommy Chase who fished out of Decoy, Tommy quickly realised all of his success would come from 17 wraps down his right hand margin, like Rob his approach was to spoon bait in from the bund mainly made up of Maize with a mix of Pellet and Boilie, Tommy banked 5 fish during his stay which fishing a similar area to Rob meant he had a fairly similar stamp of fish, a couple of twenties and a couple of thirties made up 4 of the 5 fish landed but in there also was a mirror called Lesters which weighed 45lb 6oz and was also a new PB for Tommy so we was filling the PB wall up on Friday very nicely.

This time we come to Darren Walker who managed to get himself back into Tea Party 1 which he fished in the week before, so he already had his spots set knew where he needed to be and managed to bank another 3 fish for his second week, all three fish were over the 35lb mark so although they weren’t mosnters, with it being a tricky week all round Darren was definitely made up with what he managed, the biggest of his captures was Slabman which weighed 37lb 12oz then it was a mirror of 36lb and after that he had Little Lola at 35lb, Darren caught all three fish by fishing 16 wraps towards the Church Spire and fished solid bags in amongst a baited area of House Maize.

Other than that there were a few thirties and twenties banked from other areas of the lake such as Shingles and Brambles but it never really kicked off anywhere else, so it definitely played out to be a tricky week but every angler seemed to leave with a smile on their face which is what we aim for here at Gigantica.
