Slap in the Face
With this week following on from a tricky week previous no one really knew how the lake was going to fish, but everyone went into the trip with high hopes of a few fish and hopefully a few units thrown into the mix aswell.
Starting off we have Daniel Gray and Morgan Bacon, who primarily fished in the Beach as a pair, Morgan’s chosen swim was Tea Party 1 but as there didn’t seem to be too much fish activity down this end of the lake, he spent the majority of his week paired up in the beach with Daniel which worked to both of their advantages. Fishing the swim as a pair meant they could bait up more heavily and more accurately from the bund which seemed to be required as we wasn’t sure if the bait was even reaching the bottom when being spombed out. Fishing at around 24 wraps but not sticking to one particular spot, Morgan tended to be the one casting while Daniel was able to run round to the bund with a bucket of mixed House Maize, Boilie and Pellet, this meant that as soon as the lead hit the water Daniel could spoon straight over the top of it making sure that there was enough bait going in but also it was directly over the rig, as soon as the pair switched to this tactic the bites really started coming, between them they managed 25 fish with the largest of the week falling to Morgan which was a fish called Eye-Q which weighed in at 53lb 9oz and was a new PB for Morgan. Another Big fish from this haul was Huckleberry which came in at 44lb 9oz which also fell to Morgan so it seemed the swim share was definitely working in Morgans Favour but of Course Daniel got in on the action landing some really nice fish including a good few 30’s one of the pick of the bunch being Bite Mark at 36lb.
Next up we have David Tugwell who fished in Decoy which meant he was always in with a chance of a few fish as the fish were clearly stacked up along the bund, although with the real high temperatures it meant the fish were sunbathing to a certain degree but there were still bites to be had. David managed 8 fish during his stay which all came from 16 to 17 wraps down his right hand margin the most favoured spot in this swim and of course this spot generally produces fish week in week out. David fished a Combi-rig with a small Pineapple Pop-up as the hookbait mainly for the colour match as the main bulk of his loose feed was House Maize spooned in from the bund so similar tactics to the two lads in the Beach. David managed 8 fish this week including 3 forties, Long Common making its usual appearance which weighed in at 48lb, The Archer at 46lb and an other Common called Stien which weighed 40lb on the nose, along side these captures David also managed a good few thirties and twenties to finish out the week.
Unfortunately for the other anglers on the lake it was a fairly tricky week with not too many fish coming out, basically all the other anglers that banked fish only managed 1 fish each, Sammy who fished T2 managed Marguez a Common which weighed 35lb caught from the far margin, John Arnold in Briches managed a 25lb Mirror, Chris Saville who fished Billy’s managed a 25lb from roughly 10 wraps out straight ahead and lastly we have Ben Tugwell in Brambles who managed one Twenty pounder early on in the week but nothing else ever managed to materialised.
Hopefully this fish play ball better next week but only time will tell.
Until next time
