Fishing for a bite!

This was sure going to be a testing one of on the road, 12 lads on for the week and with the slow start to the previous week it was looking like a similar occurrence for this week. Souring heat an fish now showing signs of spawning the lads defiantly had there work cut out and fishing very light bite at a time was a great way to start.

We had Gary wood coming out late in the draw and a toss-up between the shingles or Brambles it was shingles that he fancied, after quite a bit of bait going in the previous week and not much fishing being caught Gary went straight in with 3 singles straight at the dot island 18 wraps with D-rigssnow man with link quads halved with SSM toppers when 1stlight out of nowhere was his alarm in full melt down with his 1st Gigantica carp, slow and steady battle with the fish hugging the bottom was later rewarded with a new pb for Gary with ‘Nailed’ at 53lb good start mate!. Gary didn’t hang around in shingles for long and after dinner Sunday night he didn’t fancy it and moved on to Billy’s where he spent the rest of his week. Baiting up his margin at 17.5 wraps to an overhanging tree was his chosen spot seen him land another 2 carp to 25lb, he used link boilies and house maize glugged in smart liquid to catch his 2 bites out of Billy’s.

We welcomed Gareth from north wales with his 1st time out to France and with the temperatures we was facing these welsh sure didn’t like it!!, Despite the fishing being really slow in front of his chosen swim brambles he sure kept his confidence high fishing 3 rods on the 18 wraps straight in front and then Wednesday morning he was rewarded by 2 unreal captures coming just 20 minutes apart smashing his current pb of 19lb completely out the park with ‘The nose’ at 58lb 8oz and ‘The Wedge’ at 54lb what a result. Simple fishing for Gareth listen to my advice all week stuck it out in a tough week he kept the bait trickling in everyday with cell boilies and house mix particle fishing spinners over the top with SSM hook baits done him the doo.

Another Welshmen Collin Griffiths who came on the trip with Gareth set up alongside each other in the The Birches followed the same tactic as Gareth simple fishing straight out in front at 18wraps baiting very littler each day using solid bags with SSM hook baits also braking his PB of 20lb with ‘bomber’ at 42lb 4oz and then 2 other fish to 20lb. fed house mix particle all week and kept his fishing tidy an accurate in a challenging week.

Next up we had the pleasure to meeting Mick and his 2 lads this week on the road, mick coming out early in the draw and knowing of the fish Decoy likes to throw up it was there where he fancied his chances for the week. 18 wrapstowards the cage throwing sticking 18mm cell out seen mick land his fish of the trip Monday morning, this was capture never to forgot for mick as he got to name it after his granddaughter so it was ‘Layla’ at 39lb 4oz. he carried on the week baiting small introducing particle and boilie everyday but didn’t have any more takes.

Charlie Goodyear was in the beach for the week and with majority of the lakes stock sitting in there it was smack on for it but it didn’t play out that way, Wednesday soon sprung round and after a few frustrating days he finally got his 1sttake and shortly after slipped the net up ‘The Sergant’ at 41lb.fishing very stealthy up the left margin at 23 wrapsusing his baiting spoon to drop his house maize was a great tactic in these tough times, spinners with pop maize landed him another 2 fish for the week.

Adam in Dunkirk had a one night haul in the middle of the week landing 4 fish with ‘Blowt Fish’ being the biggest at 41lb and just shy of his PB. 3 on the spot at 16 wrapstowards Brambles feeding particle an boilies crum using combi rigs with wafters done him his fish.

The last Welshman of the week was Gwionn Griffithsfishing in Tea Party 1 took some stick of his old man all week till he finally managed to get amongst them his self fishing 21 wraps to left side of the dot island solid bag style banked him a new pb of ‘cobs’ at 28lb and 1 more common to 20lb.

Ricky picked out ball 1 an opted for Turtles corner, yet again not much to go off on the walk round it was Monday night when they finally started to show up his left margin at 14wraps he stuck solid bags straight at them an managed to land 3 fish with ‘Hazy Maisie’ at 31lb being pick of the bunch. Unfortunatly the fish moved on and the rest of the week came round with no more bites.

I managed to wet a line in bachiliers this week and went with 3 solid bags at 28.5 wraps to the far margin yellow wafters on the hair feeding just 10 spombs a night of house pellet over the 3 rods resulted in 3 fish to 38lb.

Nothing different from last week it was a challenging one to say the least, far play to the lads they dug deep kept the spirit high and lucky a few fish made it on the bank.

For now,

All the best,

Joe.
