Week Commencing: Sat 25/02/2023
The winter months are well and truly set and spring is on the horizon! Although compared to the false spring of the previous week, this week was certainly far from spring! With the first half the week having down to -8 wind chills and temps down to -4 at night it was a cold week with a strong north easterly wind til Thursday it certainly tested the 4 anglers fishing. This week we had a group of 2 lots of friends.
Despite the weather Craig Booth wasted no time on the Monday morning, landing a new road lake 50 in form of the jewel! At 54lb 8oz. coming first out the draw and jumping in Decoy after the previous weeks results. Following on from the last week fishing 26.5 wraps down towards the bund. Baiting with a mix of cell boilie, corn, maize, hemp, pellet and flaked maize. Kick starting it on the Sunday with 5kg of bait. Craig fished a spinner rig with a yellow pineapple pop up. Despite his effects braving the elements, the jewel was his only reward for the week but with a new PB it was enough!
Craigs friend/ work partner (never would of guessed they work together with all the witty comments between them) Danny started off in the beach but after being blown out of there by the brutal winds, he settled into Birches. Despite his effort he was unfortunate to end the week in a blank. Cracking pair of lads and would like to say a big thank you and it was a pleasure looking after you and hearing what you deal serving as part of the NHS. Carry on doing an amazing job!
When Danny moved I decided to jump in behind him for some punishment by the weather. Fishing at 21 wraps towards the bund. Starting off lightly on the bait with just boilie. On Wednesday I turned it yellow and baited with 5kg of flaked maize, maize and hemp with a handful of boilie. Thursday morning before reeling in for breakfast I was rewarded with a double take of stockies. After service more bait was introduced and it didn’t take long for them to tune into the bait! Throughout the week I introduced 30kg of bait and found regular spombing introduced more bites! Ending the week with 9 fish with the pick of the bunch being Frankie at 58lb 4oz. I fished hinge stiff rigs with the gigantica special 12mm isotonic pop ups.
Next up we have the young duo of Ed dyer and Blaise Price. Keen as punch these two and was non stop watching the water and trying to figure out the fish.
Blaise ended up in Bachilliers and headed for the long spot to the far margin at 28.5 wraps. On Monday morning and baiting with 20 midi-x spombs of corn and boilie crumb he was into his first French carp being an uncaught stocky at 30lb 8oz now known as The BP. Blaise continued and managed one more stocky at 23lb before he got itchy feet and went on the move! (surprised he stayed put til Thursday) moving into Dunkquerk for the night before moving back into Bachilliers for the final night. Blaise fished spinner rigs with pop up fake corn.
Ed Dyer started in turtles but after seeing fish in double boards swiftly moved down there. Fishing short down the right hand margin he managed to nick a bite on Tuesday fishing over a bed of boilie and fishing a diamond white on a D rig. Ed losted another fish from the same spot unforantely that was all the action despite moving back to turtles for the last couple of nights!
All the best
