They Pulled It Out The Bag!!
Tim Baillie landed in Double Boards, Tim turned up two days late at 3am Monday morning but that didn’t stop him from setting up and getting his rods out. His first 48hrs was fishless but in the early hours of Wednesday morning his 11.5 wrap spot towards Goo was away and landed “2 Scale” at 55lb 10oz. Sadly that was the only fish for Tim that week but that didn’t faze him In the slightest he went home a happy man. Tim caught 2 Scale using a combi rig over a scatter of boilie.
Ryan Bonner and Partner Heather got into Tea Part 1. It was a slow start for Ryan but he put the effort in to find a new spot, he started plumbing around towards Double Boards and found a spot 10 wraps out that felt like granite, he baited this with just boilie from a catapult and fished one rod to this spot and it payed off Wednesday morning with “Lottchen” at 45lb 1oz. He soon put the rod back out with a few more pouches over the top and not long after the “Box Mirror” was in the net at 52lb 5oz. Ryan went on to catch two mid twenties from his 19 wrap spot towards Turtles corner. But after that it dried up for him but still another smiling face leaving the gates Saturday morning. Ryan used a Slip D and Solid Bags over boilie and meat to catch his fish.
A man on a mission, Aaron Stokes started in Dunkerque with no joy and seeing the fish in Billy’s water he was soon on the move, then with two nights no joy in Billy’s he was on the move again this time to the Beach. His efforts payed of massively because he soon had “Eye-Q” on the bank at 52lb. Aaron went on to catch another couple of 20s for his efforts but the swim soon went silent. Aaron was fishing 21 wraps towards the bund using spinner rigs and fake corn over the top of maize and boilie.
Greg Baillie in Birches went most of the week with no action but after finding a gravel bar short at 12.5 wraps he decided to fish it at the bottom of the bar his side. Thursday night he was into his first fish The Cracker at 42lb 8oz. He went on to catch another 18lber from the same spot Saturday morning. Greg was using solid bags over maize and boilie.
Callum King in Turtles Corner also started off very slow but still manged to get into a few, one being cooper at 33lb 8oz. Callum manged to land three fish from his 21 wrap spot using cell bottom baits on combi rigs over maize cell boilie and hemp.
The man that kept the lake entertained for the week Grant Poulton started in The Goo he manged one fish out of The Goo a lovely 33lb 8oz mirror but feeling like he had more of a chance down the other end he moved into Decoy on the Thursday night. Sadly this move didn’t pay off. Grant caught his fish 14 wraps straight out over boilie with a standard bottom bait on a blow back rig.
It was a very tough week for the lads on this week but they still manged to pull some wackers out the bag. With a very big change in temperature, some nights going down to just 4 degrees I think this has put a brief halt to the fishing but I’m sure once it levels out they will get down for there autumn feed up!
