Week Commencing: Sat 06/08/2022

With a slight change in weather and thunderstorms on the forecast it was looking good for a few fish! Although a small weather front came through killed off the fishing for a day or two but the lads still made the most of it and had a good week with a few PBs smashed!

First up we have Danny Spurgon who settled in Tea Party 1 for the week, he set his stalls fishing 18 wraps towards the right-hand side of turtles and managed to nick a few fish throughout the week, with yellow pop ups on spinner rigs doing the damage. Dan ended up with 5 fish with the biggest being a 34lb mirror. Dan baited with 5kg a day of boilie and maize on the spot.

Kier Burwood jumped into Tea Party 2 and caught consiently all week fishing 3 different spots. Kier fished straight at the dot island at 8 wraps and then 18 wraps to the left side of the island just off the marginal shelf and then 14 wraps to the right side of turtles towards the dead tree. Catching fish off all spots despite trying different bait baiting approaches with just boilie, just maize and a mix to try and figure out which method was best but he caught on it all! Ending the week with 11 fish up to 41lb 2oz! Kier rig choice was spinner rigs with fake corn.

Top rod for the week is Martin Marsh who fished Decoy, setting his stall out fishing two spots one at 16 wraps towards the bung and another at 18 wraps straight out. Catching off both spots throughout the week but during the quiet spells martin managed to nick two fish on zigs casted at showing fish during the day. With regular baiting over both spots proved productive and kept bites coming! Martin ended the week with 16 fish up to 43lb. baiting with maize and cell boilie little and often and topping up after every bite. The go to rig was D rigs with a peaches and cream wafter or a yellow wafter.

Ivan Weatherall fished the Beach and credit to him worked hard for the fish he had, chopping and changing trying to string bites together Thursday it came together for Ivan and had 4 fish with the pick of the bunch being broken tail at 49lb. Ivan fished solid bags with a single grain of fake corn inside and then kept regular spodding over the spot. Coming short to the 16  wrap spot to make baiting easier and more accurate paid off. Ending the week on 8 fish.

Chris Evens had last choice of swims and ended up in Shingles. Fishing 3 rods on a spot at 17 wraps towards the dot island, paid of well for Chris. Accurate baiting and heavy baiting of boilie, maize and pellet spodding out up to 10kg a day. Ending up with 5 carp with a good average size all above 30lb! with the pick of the bunch being Bomber at 42lb alongside a 40lb common (not all about the hat). Chris Fished basic hair rigs with krank hooks with 2 grains of fake maize.

Mark White fished Brambles. Set out following bailiffs advice setting his stalls out at 18 wraps, straight out and baited with 5/6kg a day of maize and boilie. It took a couple days for the spot to get rocking but by Tuesday he had a few fish under his belt, wasn’t until early afternoon Tuesday one of the A team showed up in form of fosters at 57lb and a new PB for mark! Unfortunately mark suffered bad heat stroke for the last few days of the holiday and was unable to fish! Just goes to show Take care, cover up and drink plenty of water!!

Jamie Green came out low in the draw and managed to get into turtles, despite being this not being the area he wanted, he made the most of the trip and by the end of the week fished at 21 wraps towards the dot island, managing to land 6 fish with the biggest coming early hours Saturday morning in form of Big mac at 56lb and a new Pb what a way to end the trip! Jamie used spinner rigs with fake corn or royal marine pop ups.

Matt Giles went into Birches knowing its simple fishing, struggling to hit the 18 wrap spot, he dropped back to 16 wraps where he could fish comfortably and accurate, this was a wise move. Matt ended up with 5 fish including 2 40s in form of the long common at 49lb and Eddy at 47lb both breaking his PB twice in the week! Baiting with 5kg a day of mainly bait works boilie seemed to work for Matt. Just goes to show fish to your strengths and you will catch! Matt rig choice was spinner rigs fished with pop ups.

Kev Peet picking out what was left along with Chris, ended up in double boards. After having a good lead about he found a spot next to the hump at 11 wraps. Taking advice from Chris next door at shingles, Kev changed over to fake corn hookbaits and simple rigs, this paid off on Wednesday morning landing a 50lb 4oz mirror known as TJ. Kev managed one other fish being a mid 30 grassy.

Everyone Caught throughout the week even if it was a one of the small stockies which saved a couple of anglers Blanking, over all a good week and yet again a few PBs broken and more anglers getting the Bucket! Let’s hope it continues!!

 Until next time
