The Big Haul!!
Andy Lewis Managed to land in his favourite swim and after the walk around and seeing a few fish show in the Beach that sealed the deal for him, he had to get in there and it was all down to the draw! He came out no2 and to his surprise no1 didn’t pick the Beach. Within no time he was in to his first fish a nice common at 27lb 10oz and only 30 minutes later a nice 30lb mirror, he was in for a good week! With the slow and steady baiting, sometimes only putting two spombs over the top if it went slow he kept them bites coming. He finished the week with a staggering 49 fish with some beast amongst them such as Eye-Q at 52lb 6oz, Frankie at 52lb 4oz and many other 40s,30s, and 20s. Andy fished all 3 rods at 21 wraps straight out with one a 12ft zig and 2 on the bottom with a Combi rig and Pink Almont Wafters.
Gav Middlebrook came out last in the draw but still managed to land in a flyer Decoy. Gav done a awesome job of catching two of the most sort after commons in the lake the Jackal at 56lb and The Wedge at 50lb 12oz he also managed to land Big Mac at 56lb 5oz. He was fishing 14 wraps down his right-hand margin towards the bund and this made baiting very easy as he was able to bait this rod by hand, this rod alone done most of his fish, keeping the bait going in over that spot was key to his success! He also had another spot at 18 wraps towards Cage this also done a fair few bites. Fishing a link wafter on a D-Rig out towards Cage and a Spinner with double Fake Maize down his margin did the damage. He ended his week on 19 fish also breaking his P.B twice in two days, one very happy angler!
Jack Card landed in Double Boards and kicked his session into action on the first night with Bomb Head at 43lb and another new P.B but that was only the beginning for jack, just a few hours later the rod was away again, this time with a proper bigun. After a heavy battle he landed a beast known as All About The Hat at 57lb 8oz. Jacks session went a bit slow from then on with all the fish being stacked up in the Beach but that never stopped him from trying and with consistently putting the bait in each day he managed one more known as The Moo a nice 30lb common. Jack was fishing 11.5 wraps towards The Poo using Krill Pop Ups on Combi rigs.
Ryan Cottle made his way to Birches and got stuck in on his first night with a nice 24lb mirror. Ryan kept the bait going in and was catching steadily most nights, although he was happy with his captures he really wanted a bigun. And on the Thursday his wish came true with a mirror known as Raspberry at 39lb 8oz and a new P.B, being just 8oz short of the magical 40lb mark he was determined to catch a 40. With only 2 nights left he upped his baiting in the hope to catch another monster and this payed of with Lellow at 41lb 8oz. Ryan was fishing at 18 wraps to the top of the bar straight out with Link Wafters on Spinner rigs.
Bradley Oakley had the short walk to The Poo, with Brad knowing that The Poo and The Goo not doing big hits of fish but often kicks up the big girls this was the area of the lake he wanted to aim for. And on his first night the swim never let him down with Dylan at 45lb! Brad was fishing at 9 wraps towards shingles baiting heavy with White Squid Pop Ups on Spinner Rigs.
Dad&Lad Pat Murphy and Harvey Taylor-Meek both landed in Tea Party 2. Pat and Harvey both wanting to smash there P.Bs and once again Gigantica didn’t disappoint! Taking it in turns on the rods it was Pat’s turn first and at 22.30 on the first night the rod was away with another Road lake 50, Two Tone at 57lb 3oz then not long after it was away again this time Harvey’s turn and he managed to land Gilbert at 49lb 1oz. Two P.Bs smashed on the first night job done! After that night it went slow for them but they kept the bait going in and managed one more each later on in the week a 25lb mirror and a 18lb common. Fishing at 8 wraps towards the dot island done all the bites for them using Squid Goo Pop Ups on spinner rigs.
A Awesome week full of big carp and P.Bs being smashed, does it get any better? With the lads ending the week on 84 fish in total its safe to say they smashed it!
Until next time, Tight Lines
