Week Commencing: Sat 04/06/2022
To feed or not to feed???
The week after spawning is always an interesting time,
with each lake fishing completely different, gauging how to approach your week with feed and tactics can sometimes be tricky.
8 Anglers joined us this week on the road lake and it was clear from the off that they where well up for the challenge.
The experience this group brought varied massively, with some it was their first trip to France and others having experience fishing huge waters such as Cassien.
Having such a variation of angling experience on the lake meant that swim choice was going to be even more important.
As we where doing our walk around it became apparent that there was a lot of fish sat in the upper layers especially on the bund opposite The Beach and down the margin from Decoy.
So, it was no surprise when the crafty cockney James Shilabeer AKA “SUGARS” fishing in Decoy was into action straight away landing a lovely common off 22lb.
The next call from him went something like “Paul its f*cking massive the biggest f*ucking carp I’ve ever f*cking seen.
Now from speaking with sugars earlier I knew he was competent and thought I better get around there sharpish.
A quick inspection and I knew it was one of the lakes A team members,
The scales spun around to 63lb 8oz and a well spawned out” Ron’s “was his prize ,lord of the lake and the biggest fish out of the road lake so far this year.
What an achievement and great angling on your part mate.
James went on to catch another 8 fish with “Splash” being his biggest at 37lb 8oz.
Rigs of choice where size 4 krank spinners, hookbaits where Link wafters topped with slow sinking maize.
Next on the catch sheet was Ross Clarke fishing Brambles,
Who on his first bite smashed his P.B the “Long common” at 45lb 8oz, he followed this up with 22lb and 35lb mirrors.
Ross fished match the hatch fishmeal wafters on bottom bait rigs over boilie at 18 wraps towards the sloping tree.
Mike King fishing in Tea Party 1, had 4 fish up to 33lb 8oz,fishing 18 wraps towards Turtles,
Whit pop ups fished on Spinner rigs did the damage.
Big G fishing in Tea party 2 had 2 fish up to 25lb 8oz,fishing Spinner rigs with slow sinking maize.
Jordan Prountzos fishing in the Goo managed 2 fish up to 25lb fishing short and super accurate with match the hatch link waters tipped with maize,
Well done mate.
Craig Downes fishing in bachilliers had 4 fish with his biggest being “Breakfast o,clock” at 40lb on the nose.
Craig fished squid wafters on D rigs at 18 wraps.
Luke Austin fishing in “Billy’s” had 4 fish with his biggest being “Vouvray” at 35lb,
Luke fished krill wafters on D rigs at 18 wraps towards Brambles.
Last up was Clint English fishing in “The Beach” Clint managed to catch 4 commons up to 27lb, fishing pop ups on Spinner rigs.
Well all in all not the easiest of weeks for our guys but everyone stuck to the task, fished with gusto and all managed to bag.
We all know how testing it can be when the fish have recently spawned,
Sometimes extra effort is required to get them bites.
It will be interesting to see what next week brings,
Until then,
Tight lines,
Paul.
