Week Commencing: Sat 16/04/2022
Last again!!!!!!
Eleven anglers joined us this week, all arrived with a spring in there step, with a few new members being mixed in with some regulars.
The pressure was due to drop, and the weather was steadying all pointing in the right direction for a good week.
I usually start off with the angler who had the biggest haul or the biggest fish, but this week is different.
I am going to start with Jon Parker, I guy you would not like to put a bet on for you or hold your winning ticket.
Amazingly Jon managed to come out last in the draw for the 3rd time on the bounce (you related to spooner by any chance).
After initial threats of “I might as well go home now then” ha-ha I thought you was!!!
Jon settled in Bachilliers and got amongst them on the first night landing two of the smaller residents up to 22lb, a great little confidence booster which led onto another 3 mid 20s.
Finishing off with “The Traveller” at 43lb 12oz, a great effort considering a lot of the fish where in the central body of the lake, showing that last in the draw doesn’t always lead to a quiet week, if you’re willing to work for them.
One person who was in that central body of water was Sam bray, fishing in Turtles Corner,
It didn’t take Sam long to get amongst them, landing a 18lb common straight away.
The next bight was something completely different and after a heavy slow fight Sam slipped the net under “Double pecs” at a back aching 55lb 4oz.
The smile said it all and a new PB was set, Sam continued catching constantly throughout the week adding multiple 30s and twenties to his catch list and having “Mia” at 43lb 8oz to finish the week off with 27 road lake carp.
Sam used a multitude of different rigs and baits with KLF pop ups on spinner rigs and zigs accounting for most of his bites, fishing over hemp, maize and boilie.
Switching from 1 tactic to another during different parts of the day to maximise his bites, great effort buddy.
Next on the score sheet was Steve Ackland fishing in the New beach.
Steve went with a boilie only approach introducing 25 kilos of cell throughout the week.
A move which paid off in the form of 2 x 20s, 2 x 30s and 3 x 40s, his biggest being “4 scale” a new PB and a brilliant result on the last morning.
Steve fished 21 wraps towards the bund using white specialised pop ups.
Todd Groves in Tea Party 1 had a brace of upper 30, s before e landing his personal best “The Submarine” at 42lbs Todd was fishing white pop ups and bottom baits tipped with slow sinking maize, fished over house particle and cell boilies.
Rob Delaney in Tea party 2 was doing a great job of keeping the smaller residents off the other lads (proper team player) catching 13 of the smaller residents before landing a 31lb mirror, then smashing his PB with Eddy at 44lb12oz.
Rob was fishing 14 wraps towards turtles using Cell boilie on IQ D rigs over house pellet. The hard work paid off hey mate!
Trevor Wilson fishing out of Billy’s also managed 5 fish up to 26lb fishing slow sinking maize over house maize, great effort mate.
Well that rounds up another week on the road lake, with a lot of fish sat in the centre of the lake I feel the lads did well either end to get amongst them, showing yet again that effort equals reward, and staying confident and not doing anything drastic pays off.
Until next week,
Tight lines,
Paul
