Week Commencing: Sat 25/08/2018
Another Cracking week on the Road lake, with a total of 85 fish being landed which included 5 x 50’s and 9 x 40’s and a few PB were broken. The Road Lake has 22 x 50’s now and its going from strength to strength by the end of the year I’m sure were going have our first 60lb carp. Weather for the week was unsettled with the Day time temperature up into the high 20’s, but a cool 18 degrees at night.
First up was Steven Mead who decided to go into Turtles corner he found a nice area at 18 wraps and baited the area with 8kg mix of Boilies and Pellet, it didn’t take long before he was into his first fish of the session a 35lb8oz mirror. he baited every day with that amount and he topped it up after ever fish with 2kg mix of pellets and boilies. Over the course of the week Steven had a total of 30 fish which included the “long Common” at 45lb, “Cuppers” at 44lb8oz, “Korda Social Common” at 45lb and “2 Scales” at 46lb8oz, 6 x 30’s to 38lb and the rest were made up in 20’s and doubles. He was using the IQ D rig with a double wafter as his hook bait.
Rik Bisscoft went into Tea Party 1 he found a nice area at 18 wraps in-line with Turtles Corner, he cast all three rods out to that distance and baited the area with 5kg of Mainline Baits Link Boilies. There were fish crashing over his area but he could not get a take, he was using the IQ D rig with a Mainline Link wafter as his hook bait, after speaking to the Bailiff and telling him that he could not get a bite, the Bailiff advised him to try a Ronnie Rig with a Link pop up, that afternoon he was into his first fish of the session a 36lb mirror. Rik put another 5kg of Link out over the area and changed the other rods onto Ronnie rigs with a link pop ups. Rik went onto have a total of 7 carp which included “Unnamed Common” at 50lb8oz, which was a new PB for Rik,”Snooki” at 40lb, the rest were made up in 30’s and 20’s.
Chris Andrews went into Birches he started of by having a good plumb around with his marker rod just to find out what he has in front of his swim, Chris found two nice areas one at 14 wraps just to the left of the swim, the other at 18 wraps just to the right of Billys swim, he baited each area with 5kg of boilies. It didn’t take long before he was into his first fish of the week a cracking 44lb8oz mirror called Eye-Q, just after that he lands a 28lb mirror. The next morning, he was in again this time its “Hansen” which went 50lb8oz and a new PB for Chris. He was using a Ronnie rig with a pop up as his hook bait, the next Morning he lands a 37lb Common, he goes onto to have another 6 carp towards the end of the week, on Friday morning he lands “Lee’s Common” at 42lb a nice way to end the week.
Liam Lonsdale started of in Decoy after no action he fancied a move into the Poo as there were a load of carp showing in front of the swim, he decided to put out his left hand rod at 10 wraps in-line with Shingles and the other two rods were cast out out 12 wraps in-line with Turtles Corner, he baited both area’s with 4kg of Mainline Baits Link Boilies, it wasn’t long before he was into his first fish of the week a 29lb8oz mirror shortly after that he goes and lands a cracking 38lb mirror, Liam was using a D rig with a wafter as his hook bait. He went on to have another 4 x 20’s.
Dave Anderson went into Billys he was fishing one rod up he Right hand margin at 16 wraps and the other two rods were cast at 14 wraps in-line with the gap on the far margin and baiting the areas with 4kg of Boilies, it wasn’t long before he was into his first fish or the week a nice 34lb mirror, the next day he goes and has a couple 20’s, then on Friday morning he lands “The Grim Ripper”at 43lb, an hour later he lands “The Lake Record Common” at 51lb what at way to end the week. Over the course of the week Dave landed a total of 10 carp to 51lb, Dave was using the IQ D rig with a wafter as his hook bait.
Tejay Mead went into Shingles he was fishing all three rods at 18 wraps in-line with the Island, he started off by spombing out 8kg mix of Boilies and Pellet over the area, it did take long before he was into his first fish of the week a cracking 34lb mirror, this came on an IQ D rig with a double wafter as his hook bait. It went quite for Tejay over the next few days so he decided to have a go in the Stalking Swim and it didn’t take long to get a bit, he goes and lands a nice 27lb4oz mirror.
Barry Lonsdale went into The Beach he was fishing all three rods at 14 wraps straight out, he baited the area with 8kg mix of boilies and Pellet, the next morning he was into his first carp of the week a 30lb Common, it went a bit quite over the next few days and then on Thursday the carp started to move back up to The beach, Baz went onto have 9 more carp to 43lb8oz, which was called “Lukas”, he was using a D-rig with a wafter as his hook bait.
LeeWhitefield fishing in Dunkerque found a nice area at 14 wraps in-line with the small island, he had all three rod on that area and baited with 8kg mix of pellet and boilies, Lee was using a Blow back rig with a wafter as his hook bait, it wasn’t until Tuesday that lee had his first take a 29lb grass carp. On Wednesday the carp started to move up his side of the lake, lee went on to have 6 carp to 34lb.
TommySmith fishing in Bachelier’s had two rods at 21 wraps just of the left hand margin his other rod was cast straight out at 24 wraps over the the far margin, he had an upper 20lb mirror and lost one, after no more action he had a move to The Goo as there were fish showing at 50 yards, so he put all 3 rods out to that distance and baited the area with 8kg mix of boilies and pellet. On Friday morning he goes and lands “Ron’s” at 52lb8oz What a way to end the week. Tom was using a Blow back rig with a Crab and Cranberry boilie with a Northern special pop up as a snowman for his hook bait.
Aaron Hutson (AKA Poodle) fishing in Double boards found a small gravel bar at 10 wraps in-line with the Poo, so he baited the area with a 10kg mix of boilies and pellets, it wasn’t until Wednesday that he had his first take of the week, he goes and lands “Big Pec’s” at 53lb4oz and that’s a new PB for Aaron and his only second carp of 2018.. WOW! what a fish to start your trip, this fell to an IQ D rig with a wafter as his hook bait.
