Week Commencing: Sat 28/07/2018
Another Hot week here at Gigantica, with the temperature getting up into the high 30’s with Friday being recorded up to 38 degrees, and the night time temp going down to 22 degrees. There was a steady breeze for most of the week coming from the west, and the Lake temp was at 24 degrees.
First up was Tony Jones fishing in Turtles Corner, he was fishing all 3 rods in a line at 18 wraps, and he baited the area with 5kg of boilies. After a couple days with no activity Tony went round to Birches as there were fish jumping out in front of that swim, he decided to make up three zigs at depths of 11ft,14ft and 16ft these were cast out at a range of 80 yards, it didn’t take long before Tony had a take on the 11ft zig this turned out to be a 41lb8oz mirror which was another new 40lb fish for the Road lake, so Tony got to name the fish, he decided to call it “TJ”.
Dean Chetty was fishing in The Beach he started of by having a good plumb around with his marker rod, after a few casts he found a nice hard area along the left hand margin at 14 wraps. The other area he found was at 16 wraps straight out in-front of the swim, he baited each area with 5kg of Solar boilies. That evening he goes and lands a nice 28lb common, the next morning there were loads of fish crashing on the surface, so he decided to try an 11ft zig with black foam, it didn’t take long before his rod ripped off and a he was rewarded with a nice 28lb mirror. The next day he was in again but just a small 21lb common, not long after that he lands a 27lb8oz mirror both of these fell to an 11ft zig. Friday morning Dean had the biggest fish of the trip a cracking 36lb mirror, he also had another 2 x 20s and 3 doubles.
Kevin Yule went into Dunkerque he was fishing straight out at 10 wraps in-line with the tall tree on the far margin, he baited the area with a couple kilos of solar boilies. The next morning there were loads of carp showing just of to his right, so he decided to cast out an 11ft zig as this was the depth that the other anglers were catching at, it didn’t take long before Kevin was into his first fish of the session, a 44lb mirror known as “My Mate” what a great start for Kevin, it goes to show if you’re not getting any action on the bottom and there are carp all over you then change over to a zig and your bound to land one of these Gigantic carp.
Nathan Edwards went into Bacheliers he had two rods up the left hand margin at 21 wraps and his third rod was cast to the right of the swim on an 11ft zig, Nathan started baiting the left hand margin spot with a 5kg mix of boilies and pellet, it didn’t take long before he had his first take of the session, Nathan goes and lands a nice 28lb mirror which fell to an IQ D rig with a size 4 korda curv hook and a couple pieces of slow sinking IB yellow maze.
Martijn Markwat went into Decoy he had two rods straight out at 21 wraps, and his other rod was cast up the right hand margin at 16 wraps which was just of the corner of the bund, martijn baited each area with 8kg of the Mainline Link boilies, That evening around midnight he had a take on his long spot and it turned out to be a 30lb common, this fell to an IQ D rig with a size 4 Korda Kurv and a Mainline Link wafter as his hook bait, the next morning he see a few fish crashing on the surface, so he decided to put out a couple of zigs at 11ft, as there has been a few fishing coming out on zigs at that depth, an hour later he was rewarded with a nice 24lb common, not long after that he had a 21lb common. On Saturday morning he lands a cracking 36lb mirror, a very had week all over the lake this week due to the high temperatures.
Raymond Van Ee went into Billys he started fishing two rods straight out at 20 wraps in-line with the gap in the trees, the right hand rod was cast at 16 wraps towards the over hanging tree along the right hand margin, Raymond baited each area with 3kg of boilies, that night he goes and lands a 20lb grass carp. After seeing a few fish in-front of Birches he decided to have a move round there, and put out zigs at depths of 11ft, 13ft and 15ft all with black foam, he tried his hardest but could not get another bite as the Temperature was well up in the high 30’s the carp were just not interested, this was the case for most of the week.
That’s it for another week here at gigantica.
