Week Commencing: Sat 13/05/2017

What a week here on the Road lake with a total of 125 carp being landed. And a New Lake record Mirror called 3 Scales at 56lb 4oz. There was also 19 Carp over 40lb being landed, great angling lads.  With the weather being really hot and temperatures up in the 30’s for most of the week it didn’t stop these lads from catching.

Simon Greaves was set up in Shingles, over the course of the week he landed fourteen carp.  2 doubles, 7 x 20s, 3 x 30s to 35lb a 43lb8oz mirror and a cracking 48lb mirror called Shuter’s.  He found a spot at 72 yards in-line with Tea Party 1, his other rod was cast down the left hand margin at 7 wraps. Simon was baiting up every day with 1 kg of TNT boilies from A&S baits, he would bait up after every fish with his throwing stick, just to keep the spot topped up. Simon was using a Ronnie Rig with a size four Korda Kurv hook and an A&S baits pop up.

Brendon Almquest decided to go in Turtle Corner, he had a total of Twenty-Eight carp 5 doubles, 12 x 20’s to 28lb 2oz, 9 x 30’s to 37lb 8oz a 41lb12oz mirror called Joner, and a 44lb mirror called Toucan. His left hand rod was cast along the left hand margin at 15 wraps, the middle rod was cast at 20 wraps towards the island and the right hand rod was cast at 16 wraps inline with Tea Party 2. Brendon was baiting up with a kilo of boilies over each spot every day just before tea.  Over the course of the week he used a total of 15 kilos of TNT boilies from A&S baits, and rig wise he was using the Ronnie Rig with a 16mm pop up as his hook bait.

Dave Houghland was set up in Tea Party 1.  Over the week he had a total of thirty-three carp, 12 doubles, 7 x 20’s, 10 x 30’s up to 35lb 8oz, 4 x 40’s to 44lb4oz. All three of his rods were cast straight out at 20 wraps.  Dave was baiting up every day with three kilos of boilies, he was using the Ronnie Rig with White 16mm pop up as his hook bait.  After seeing a few carp show to the right of his swim he decided to put out a 13ft zig with a white pop up on, and it wasn’t long before he was into a nice 36lb mirror.  Dave ended up catching eight carp on his zig rig approach.

Chris banham was set up in Tea Party 2, he had a total of Ten carp for the week including 1 double, 2 x 20’s and 3 x 30’s to 38lb8oz and 4 x 40’s to 48lb8oz. All of his carp come from only two rods, his left hand rod was cast at 19.5 wraps in-line with the gap in-between the trees, the other rod was cast further down the margin at 24 wraps. Chris was baiting up every day with four kilos of boilies. He was using a Ronnie rig with an A&S baits white 16mm pop up as his hook bait.

Toby Claydon went into the Decoy swim.  He had a total of five carp for the week, 2 x doubles, a 22lb common,32lb common and a cracking 40lb common.  Jamie had all three rods straight out in front on top of the Plato at 22wraps. Jamie was baiting up every day with 3kg of boilies, and like many he was using a Ronnie Rig with a white pop up.  A winning formula on the Road Lake at the moment.

Craig Smith was set up in the Cage.  He had a total of fourteen carp for the week, 2 doubles, 7 x 20’s to 27lb,4 x 30’s to 38lb5oz, and a new lake record mirror called 3 scales at 56lb4oz. He had his left hand rod down the left hand margin, the middle rod was straight out at 10 wraps and his right hand rod was down the right hand margin just in-front of the weed.  He baited up every day with 2 kilos of boilies over each rod.  A simple IQ D rig with an A&S Baits wafter done the trick for Craig.

Olly Sanders was set up in Brambles.  He had a total of 8 carp for the week. He had 3 doubles, 3 x 20’s to 28lb, a 35lb mirror and a cracking 43lb8oz mirror called Baldwick. He was fishing all 3 rods at 22 wraps straight out in-front on top of the Plato.  During the week he used twenty kilos of boilies and ten kilos of hemp and maze mix, Olly was using a stiff hinge rig with a white pop up, which done the trick to land these cracking carp.

David Westwood  “westy” decided to go in Billys.  Over the week he had 4 x 20’s to 29lb14oz, 2 x 30’s to 35lb8oz and a 40lb mirror. His left hand rod was cast straight out in-front at 20 wraps, the middle rod was at 17.5 wraps over to the right hand margin, and his right hand rod was down to the right hand corner. Westy was using an IQ D rig with an A&S wafter. He was spodding a kilo of boilies over each rod every day, over the week he used 10kilos of hemp and maze and 30kilos of TNT Boilies from A&S Baits.

Darren Williams was set up in the Beach, he had a rod down the left had margin at 14 wraps. and the other rods were cast straight out in front at 10 wraps.  Darren baited up every day with a kilo of boilies over each rod, an IQ D rig with a wafter topped with a piece of fake maze landed 4 double and a 23lb mirror.
