Week Commencing: Sat 24/09/2016
Autumn is well and truly here, the nights have been dropping down to a rather chilly eight degrees this week with the daytime temperatures remaining at around sixteen. The weather for the week was rather unsettled with plenty of rain during the middle part of the week.
The sun however did make an appearance towards the end of the week making it feel rather pleasant in the autumn sun. A rather cool North-westerly wind blow for the majority of the week.
With the Road Lake being in such fine form over the last six-week or so this week ended up being a little slower, but never the less the lads all had a super time and banked some awesome fish along the way.
First up this week we had Roy and with Tea Party 2 being one of the hot areas to be at the moment it was no surprise that it was indeed Roy who kicked started off the week, and what a way to do it with a new PB in the shape of a 41.05lb mirror known as Two Scale. That personal best lasted only a matter of hours, as Roy landed Rose Bud at a new top weight of 51lb, and another new fifty for The Road Lake! To follow this he backed up an already impressive start with a further six fish, with the best a 35lb 6oz mirror. Roy fished at 19 wraps either side of the island and baited the area everyday with around 4 kilo of boilie each day using a throwing stick. Rig wise the ever-faithful IQ D Rig and Cell wafter combo doing the business for Roy.
Over in Turtles Corner we had Chris. For the week Chris managed a creditable 14 fish haul. This consisted of two upper 30’s a common weighing 38.04lb and a mirror of 37.12lb. Chris fished at 17 wraps towards Tea Party 2 and baited up with around 3 kilo a day, a mixture of boilie and pellets. Down at the business end a Mulit rig and a snowman style hookbait proved to be successful.
Fishing in The Goo this week we had Adam. After a slow start and a few fish drifting down his way Adam started to get amongst them. For the week Adam landed five fish, as well as unfortunately losing a couple through hook pulls! But he still managed to beat his personal best four times during his trip meaning he went home a very happy chap indeed. Adams' largest fish of the week was The Long Common at 42lb. Along with this he also managed 3 x 30’s up to 39lb. Fishing all three rods at 10 wraps and baiting on a little and often basis Adam introduced around 10 kilo of Cell boilies throughout the week.
In Decoy this week we had Matt. Matt managed a creditable 11 fish for the week that included 6 x 30’s, the best a mirror weighing 38lb 14oz. Matt fished all three rods at 21 wraps and baited with around 4 kilo of boilies per day.
Other notable catches for the week included Urch in Tea Party 1 where he managed a PB in the shape of a 41lb common called Nailed. Fishing at 15 wraps towards Turtles corner.
