Week Commencing: Sat 07/05/2016
Again a typical spring week here with it being rather unsettled with wind, rain and even the odd bit of sunshine thrown in for good measures. Maximum temp for the week was a pleasant 20 degrees going down to 9 degrees at night. A gentle westerly breeze blew for the majority of the week switching to a northerly on Friday afternoon, water temperature is at 14 degrees.
Stuart Brown in Tea Party 2 had a total of 16 carp for the week, he had a nice 41lb common 5x30’s to 38lb 6x 20’s and four doubles, they all come on IQ D rig with a size 4 Korda Kurv hook with a Krill boilie as his hook bait. He used a total of 10kg of Krill boilies over all 3 rods during the week. His first rod was cast at 18 RL over to the far margin between the gap in the trees. Stuart was walking round and catapulting 1kg of boilies per day out to the spot where he was casting too. The other two rods were cast to the right of the swim inline of Billy’s at 20 RL where he used a two bait stinger to good effect and baiting up with his throwing stick.
Phil fishing in Billies, had four twenty’s and two thirty’s to 35lb. They all came on the IQ D rig with a size 6 Korda Kurv hook with a Mainline Cell wafter as a hook bait. Phils first rod was cast towards the right hand margin at 15 RL where he baited up with 2kg of Mainline Cell boilies per day. His other two rods were cast straight out towards Tea Party 2 at 18 RL. He was spodding out 2kg of chopped boilies every day before dinner.
James Buckler was set up in Single Boards for the week. He had two doubles, one 20lb mirror and a cracking 32lb mirror. His left hand rod was cast along the left hand margin about a rod length of the bank, this is where he had the 32lb mirror from.James was baiting up every day before tea with a kilo of boilies which were from Velocity Baits. The other of his carp come from his right hand margin, and again on Velocity Baits. Fishing a single boilie on a IQ D rig done the job for James.
Aaron Glove in Birches had a cracking 41lb 8oz common, known as Lee's Common, one twenty and a double. His left hand rod was cast towards TP2 where he had the 41lb 8oz common from. He was baiting up every day with 5kg of Krill from Sticky Baits over all three rods. An IQ D rig with a Banoffee wafter done the trick to fall that cracking common.
Craig Springer in Shingles had a 21lb common and a nice 31lb common. They both come on his left hand rod, which was cast along the left hand margin about thirty yards. He baited up every day with 2kg of boilies, which were from Velocity Baits. A peanut and plum flavoured boilie on a IQ D rig with a size 6 Korda Kurv hook was his chosen rig for the week.
