Week Commencing: Sat 17/10/2015
What a week we had here on the road lake, a new 51lb mirror and three new 40s coming out and with PBs broken this week too its a joy to be part of the Road Lake.
So Autumn is well and truly here, the temperature has dropped down to a rather chilly 0 degrees for the first time this year and with daytime temperatures remaining around twelve degrees. The sun made an appearance towards the end of the week making it feel quit pleasant.
Luke Holmes was set up in Billys he was fishing all three rod at 20rl just to the left of the swim he was baiting up every day with 4kg of boilies which he scatted over all three rods. He had a total of 11 carp for the week a 51lb mirror which is another new 50lb for the Road Lake and he has named it ‘Big Mac'. He also had a 40lb 12oz common, 42lb 4oz mirror, 4 x 30s to 36lb 4oz and 4 x 20s. A simple IQ D rig with a wafter out witted these Road Lake carp.
Scott Mankin was fishing in the Cage and had a 27lb 6oz mirror along with a nice 38lb 10oz mirror, all 3 rods were clipped up at 17rl and cast straight out. He baited up every day with a couple kilos of boilies and the IQ D rig with a Cell Dumbell done the trick for Scott.
Mark Bradford was set up in Turtles Corner and he was fishing all three rods at 18rl towards Tea party 1. A simple IQ D rig done the business for mark where he had a 21lb mirror, 28lb common and a 35lb 12oz common. Mark was Spodding out every other day with a few kilos of boilies.
Matt Webb (Webbo) was in Decoy he was fishing all 3 rods at 20rl just to the right of the big round tree on the far bank, he had 11 fish through the course of the week with a 46lb14oz common which is a new 40lb fish so he has named it 'The Butcher’, he also had a 45lb 11oz mirror which he named ‘The Nose’. He also had 3 x 30s to 39lb 5oz, 5 x 20s and 1 double. Matt baited to very good effect every day with 4 kilos of boilies and used a simple D rig with a dumbell boilie as his hook bait done the job for Webbo.
John Thornley AKA “Toucan” was set up in The Goo, he had 2 rods at 15 rl towards the 2 round trees on the far bank and the other rod he fished down the margin all rods on a simple IQ D rig with a Krill wafter tipped with plastic corn done the job for John. John managed a 26lb common, so due to it fishing a bit slow down the left arm he went and done a few hours in the daytime with one rod down in The Slags, which we allow day anglnig only with one rod, where he had 2 x doubles, 3 x 20s to 28lb, a 37lb 8oz common and finally a 40lb 15oz mirror which was his new PB and as it’s a new 40lb fish John has named it ‘Toucan’.
Gavin was fishing in The Poo and he had a 33lb mirror with all three rods wrapped up at 17rl and cast straight out in front in line with double boards, he used 15kg boilies through out the week and a wafter on the IQ D rig was Gavins chosen rig for the week.
Well that’s it for another week here on the Road Lake and a much better week from last week, but due to the weather turning colder and as the carp start to get used to the temperature dropping they will certainly start to get on the feed again with some good fish coming out next week. There were Some Quality fish caught this week and with only a week left of The Road Lake season I’m sure there will be a few more surprise’s maybe another new 50lb fish. Who knows only time will tell.
