Week Commencing: Sat 19/09/2015
The feeling of autumn has truly established itself this week, with water temperatures slowly dropping and the nights starting to feel chilly.
We had overcast skies for much of the week with a few showers around Tuesday and Wednesday. The wind was pushing NW to W all week, and temperatures were 18 degrees during the day falling to 8 degrees at night.
Stephen Harrison landed in Turtles corner this week, not bad as a 40th birthday present. Stephen was using D’rigs over and area baited with 5KG of boilie towards Tea party 1 and 2, he banked 9 fish this week including 4 thirties. A 37lb mirror on Sunday, two 38lb mirrors on Thursday and finishing the week off with his largest fish a 38lb 10oz common on Friday morning.
Stephen’s mate Tony bivvied up in Shingles and baited up initially with 5kg of boilie then and extra 3kg every day at an area 12 wraps straight out in front and used IQ D rigs with Banoffee wafters. Tony landed a perfect 36lb 7oz common on Monday morning.
Simon 'spike' Graves and Josh Bartley were fishing next to each other in the Birches and Brambles. Spike baited with 5kg of boilie on the Saturday then topped up with half a kilo per rod per day. Using IQ D rigs he landed a mint common early Wednesday morning weighing in at 36lb and another thirty this time swinging the scales round to 32lbs 6oz late on Friday night.
Josh was fishing at 15wraps and baited the same as spike. Also using IQ D rigs and Banoffee wafter and Hybrid boilie combinations he landed 2 fish his largest was a very pretty 20lb mirror early on Saturday morning.
Repeat visitor Richard Stansfield was back again for his 4th time in 12 months. Richard truly had a week to remember in Decoy landing The Hammer at an amazing 48lb 6oz on Thursday afternoon. Richard was fishing 20 wraps towards the large round tree to the right of the swim. Richard also landed 4 other fish spread evenly throughout the week. Great angling Richard.
Over in Dunkerque and The Cage was brothers Jordan and Ben Denvers.
After starting the week in Dunkerque Jordan made a move to Billies after 2 days. Fishing 16 wraps towards Birches and over a bed of boilies he landed a well deserved 28lb mirror on Thursday evening.
Ben in the Cage was fishing 15 wraps to the right of the swim towards the island baiting up with 5kg of boilie early in the week then 1kg each day. Ben landed two very nice carp one a common at 21lb the other was a 25lb mirror.
The quality of the fish this week where second to none, every fish was a perfect example. With The Hammer having put on so much weight who knows what surprises are still in store for us.
