Week Commencing: Sat 11/07/2015

It has been a quiet week for the anglers this week over on the Road Lake.  Five lucky anglers spread over thirty acres.  With so little people it was feared that the fish might move off into areas where there where no lines, but the lads worked hard moving around to avoid this happening even in the heat.

The weather for the week remained hot and sunny with temperatures around thirty six degrees and the water temperature remained at twenty two degrees.  Never the less the sport became hectic at times as they averaged around twenty fish each for the week, which included 6x40’s.

First off this week we had Jamie who decided to fish on Tea Party 1.  For the week Jamie managed an impressive twenty eight fish haul, including 3x40’s the best being a 43lb 3oz mirror along with another mirror of 40lb 6oz and a common weighing 42lb 2oz.  Baiting up heavy after each fish kept them coming as Jamie introduced 5kg of our very own Mainline Spicy Active boilies and 3kg of our Gigantica pellets after every fish either with a throwing stick or with the aid of a Spomb.  Rig wise Jamie used IQ D rigs along with wafter hook baits and fished all three rods into open water at 20RL.

Over in Dunkerque this week we had Callum and his partner Bethany who came along for a relaxing holiday.  How wrong she was as she was kept busy being a nets man or should I say nets woman for Callum pretty much all week as he went on land an impressive haul of Twenty seven fish.  Rather unlucky with the average size and not connecting into some of the Road Lake bigger specimens, however he did manage a fine looking common of 37lb 10oz along with a 34lb 2oz mirror.  Fishing all three rods at 18RL and baiting up with around three to four kilo of boilie per day spread across all three rods.  Snowman style hook baits doing the business for Callum.

Fishing in Decoy this week we had Jack, managing a very creditable fourteen fish for the week including a fine mirror weighing 43lb 2oz along with 3x30’s, the best a 38lb common as well as a mirror weighing 35lb.  Jack baited up with a kilo of Spicy Active boilies and three kilo of pellets twice a day spread across all three rods and fished IQ D rigs and Spicy Active wafters over the top.

In Brambles this week we had Daniel, Daniel managed eight fish for the week the best a 32lb mirror.  Fishing at 18RL and spreading a kilo of boilies and pellets across all three rods.

Finally, last but not least we had our Belgium friend Jan who is a true character.  Jan decided to fish Billy’s and no sooner had he put his rods out was rewarded with a fine brace of Road Lake carp.  Two mirrors weighing 37lb 5oz and 34lb, what a start.  Jan went on to land eighteen fish for the week the best a 43lb common as well as another specimen again a common weighing 41lb.  Jans fish all came to IQ D rigs and Banoffee wafters, baiting heavily with both boilies and pellets.  Jan introduced around fifty kilo for the week either with the aid of a throwing stick or Spomb.

Well that’s it for another week over here on the Road Lake. It seems to be fishing over large quantities of bait is the winning method at the minute and those who are putting in large quantities are getting the results.  A special mention must go to Jamie who from a rather out of the blue moment in TP1 had an amazing result which included 3x40’s, so well done mate.  All in all a great group this week with plenty of sport as a total of 95 fish were landed all be it a lot of hard fighting smaller fish that really do pull your arm off.  Not forgetting some cracking 40’s thrown in for good measure really does keep them alarms singing.

See you all soon .
