Week Commencing: Sat 02/05/2015

This week the weather has been up and down with daytime temperatures up to 18 degrees and a water temperature of 15 degrees, but even still it was a great week on the Road Lake with a total of 134 carp being landed with four different 40s - all in all, not a bad week.

Brent Whitehead in Decoy had a total of 28 carp for the week with his the best being a cracking 42lb common along with 4x30's to 39lb.  With these he also had 14x20's and nine doubles.  Brent was fishing all three rods at 20RL straight out in front.

Baiting up using a spod and a throwing stick, Brent introduced 1kg of Gigantica pellets and choped boilies.  Then using his throwing stick he spread around a few handfuls of whole baits each day and topped up after every fish.  His rig for the week was an N-Trap Soft hook link of 9 inches with a size 6 Korda Krank and a single boilie tipped with fake yellow corn - this was enough to fool the Road Lake carp this week.

Aidy Whitehead in Birches had a total of 28 carp as well for the week which included 6x30's, the best a mirror weighting 39lb 8oz, along with 14x20's and eight doubles.  He was fishing all three rods at 21RL towards the tall tree on the far margin, spoding out between 1 and 1.5kg of Gigantica pellets and CC Moore Equinox boilies.  Again, like Brent he was using a N-Trap Soft hook link of 9 inches with a size 6 Korda Krank hook and a single boilie tipped with a yellow corn.

Jonny Shaw in Brambles again had a total of 28 carp for the week, which included 4x30's to 39lb 8oz, which was also a PB.  Along with this he also had 13x20's and 11 doubles, again fishing all three rods at 20RL straight out.

Ben and Hannah in Tea Party 2 had a total of 26 carp; Ben had 2x40's to 41lb 8oz, 5x30's to 35lb 8oz and also 7x20's and 12 doubles.  They all came on N-Trap Semi Stiff hook links with a size 4 Korda Wide Gape X hook fished blow back-style.

Ben used 10kg of Sticky Baits Vortex boilies over two rods, which were cast at 18 RL over to the far margin between the gap in the trees. He was walking round and catapulting 2kg of boilies per day out to the spot where he was casting. The 3rd rod was cast to the right of the swim with a two bait stinger at showing fish.

Chris Bonny in Single Boards had a total of 11 carp, 5x20's to 27lb and 6 doubles.  They came on an IQ D rig with a size 6 Korda Kurv and a B5 Salami hook bait tipped with a piece of yellow fake corn.  Two rods were cast straight out at 15-20RL and Chris used 20kg of B5 Salami and 20kg of Mainline Hybrid boilies throughout the week.  The third rod was fished down the left hand margin at 8RL.

Ted, who was in Double Boards, had a total of seven carp including 3x30's to 36lb and 4x20's.  He was using the KD rig with a single bottom bait tipped with yellow fake corn.  Ted used 10kg of B5 Salami and 10kg of Mainline Hybrid baits through out the week.  Two rod were cast straight out at 15 RL and the 3rd rod was cast down the right hand margin at 10RL.

Martin Makkway was in Bachelier’s - he had six carp for the week, his biggest was a 32lb mirror which smashed his PB by 14lb.  The IQ D rig with a size 6 Korda Kurv with our own Gigantica boilies as a hook bait tipped with yellow corn and soaked in Kiana King Crab Goo, did the business for Martin.

He was casting two rods to the left hand margin were was baiting up throughout the week with 10kg of our Gigantica boilies and 10kg of Gigantica pellets. The 3rd rod was cast 12RL towards Single Boards, where he used a throwing stick to spread his baits over a large area.

Nicholas Shipley was in Dunkerque had a total of five carp for the week, the best being a cracking 38lb common along with a 24lb mirror and three doubles.  He was using the IQ D rig with a size 6 Korda Kurv, with a single boilie tipped with yellow fake corn.  Over the course of the week Nicholas used 10kg of Hybrid boilies and 10kg of Gigantica pellets over all three rods, which were fished at 11RL towards Birches.

Dale Brown was in Billy’s where he had a total of five carp; 3x20's to 29lb and a double.  He was using an IQ D rig with a size 6 Korda Kurv with a Hybrid boilie tipped with fake yellow corn.  Two rods were cast straight out in front of the swim at 15RL and the 3rd rod was cast down the right hand margin. Bait-wise, Dale was using Mainline Hybrid boilies and again for the week he used a total of 10kg spread between all three rods.
