Week Commencing: Sat 04/10/2014

With the season drawing to a close on the Road Lake and with only a few weeks left and not many on this week fishing was a little difficult as the fish could move away from angling pressure and into the safe areas.  The weather was turning a little as well with heavy showers and a real feel that autumn is here.  With cold nights being down to around 5 degrees.

First off in Dunkerque we had Dan and his partner Amy.  Fishing at ten rod lengths towards Brambles Dan managed nine fish with the best being a 36lb mirror, along with another three others over 30lb.  Fishing with a mixture of Hybrid boilies and pellets, Dan used around 20 kilos for the week and baited up using a spomb.  KD rigs fished on all three rods with balanced Hybrid hookbaits was all that was needed for Dan.  A good reward for a hard week.

Fishing over in Turtles we had Joe.  Joe was out here to help out with the netting of the stock pond and to show us how to do it properly, which was very successful.  So thank you mate for all your help and work.  After working he managed to get to fish and managed a few fish too.  The best being a 34lb 8oz mirror, along with 6 other fish.  Joe baited up before work with around 3 kilos of Hybrid over a large area using a throwing stick and fished at 16RL towards the island.  IQ D rigs and small bright hook baits cast out as singles in the evening was Joe’s rigs and hookbaits of choice.

Fishing in Single Boards this week was Liam.  Liam managed a brace of 40’s to 41lb, fishing at 15RL towards the over hanging tree.  Baiting up with a mixture of whole and chopped Hybrid boilies and using a IQ D rig over the top to good effect.

Well a very short but sweet catch report this week with the odd fish coming out from other areas around the lake.  Maybe the colder and wetter weather had a part to play combined with the fish moving away from angling pressure had a part to play this week I'm sure of that.

As I said before, we successfully managed to net our stock pond in readiness for the dividing out of our babies in the next few weeks and the help of Joe and Justin was very much appreciated so thank you both again.

Exciting times ahead.

See you soon
